I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) graphic
designer with over six years experience on projects that span from
simple logo design to complex branding efforts across mixed media.
Here's a snapshot of the industries I've worked in:
::Advertising Agency on Madison Avenue
In 1998 I worked at J. Walter
Thompson Specialized Communications in New York City. I helped develop
advertising concepts with my creative team and learned the advertising
business. From typesetting to logos to direct mail and newspaper
print, I very quickly adapted to the fast pace of the New York lifestyle.
::Interactive
Marketing Agency
In 1999 I worked for two years
at Portaris Inc. formerly The Internet Design Firm, an interactive
agency at the height of the tech boom in Austin Texas. This meant
I had to become intimately familiar with all facets of interactive
design. It entailed understanding usability and how information
is processed by the audience. I worked with several high tech clients,
which ultimately resulted in learning how best to structure the
design process for maximum efficiency. Since then I have done many
freelance web design projects, giving me the opportunity to have
a wider range of web clients.
::Global
Manufacturing Industries
Over the course of four years
I've been employed by Global Manufacturing Industries, which lends
a nice balance of "client side" experience to my agency background
and allows me to look at projects from both perspectives. In 1998-99
I worked for Leviton Manufacturing in New York, an electrical supplier
for commercial, industrial, and residential construction. Here I
worked on product labels, photo retouching, and catalogs as well
as company presentations and templates. More importantly, I learned
how a consistent brand is the anchor behind different products and
media.
In the last 4 years I have been the Graphics Coordinator for Dresser
Wayne Dresser, a global manufacturer of fuel delivery systems and
gas dispensers. Essentially being the brand ambassador for our big
clients: Exxon, Mobil, Shell and all international accounts. I ensure
that all brand aspects are successfully represented, from color
matching across media to internal brand documentation. This has
also been a great venue for understanding and improving internal
company processes and relationships, as no design task in a large
company exists in a vacuum - working with multiple groups is critical.
Ultimately working at Dresser Wayne has given me the experience
to work on projects in a global scale and from complete start to
finish in collaboration with multiple departments.
